This project emerges from the exploration and photographic documentation of the Quebrada de Humahuaca geological site in Jujuy, Argentina. Nearby, large brine deposits are used for lithium extraction, a key component in battery production.

Exploring these mountains revealed to me a landscape of encounters, mirages, and contrasts. A space where the protection and extraction of the earth’s mineral wealth coexist at the threshold of perception.

As I walk through these lands, I wonder how far the race for geological resources will take us—often at the cost of the environment, non-renewable resources, and sometimes even human bodies and communities.

Inhabiting these mountains invites me to imagine a relationship with the earth that moves away from supremacy—being above nature and other people—and toward a perspective in which our existence is an integral part of ecosystems, interconnected with everything around us.

The artwork explores the tangible intensities of the earth, weaving together materialities and temporalities within the geological-technological-biological continuum that shapes our world today. It composes a network of shifting perspectives, going beyond mere description, inviting subjective interpretations and a more embodied approach to the intangible.
